Bring Back Chat

Bring Back Chat

About

This Fabric mod bypasses your Microsoft account settings to allow chat and multiplayer regardless. This aims to bypass the mandatory privacy-invasive "age verification" required in some countries in order to confirm your Microsoft account as 18+, which is required to access multiplayer and chat in Minecraft.

About this reboot

The original mod by sophur was archived and stopped receiving updates. This is a community continuation under the same MPL-2.0 license, picking up support for newer Minecraft versions.

Why? (my opinion)

I don't want to submit my ID or selfie to a company, and risk it being leaked if the company ever suffers a data breach. Some may claim to delete your data right after, or that it never leaves your device, but we just have to take their word for it. Even if that wasn't an issue, using AI to estimate your age based from a selfie is incredibly flawed and trivial to bypass. Privacy is a human right. Mandatory verification completely undermines online privacy and anonymity. All of your messages may be able to be tied to your real identity and tracked across multiple platforms.
